Rio Grande
Valley Quilt Guild’s 24th Annual Quilt Show
The show was February 18th and
19th at the Pharr Convention Center. There were over 160 beautiful
quilts, over 30 entries in wearable arts, numerous miscellaneous articles,
Challenge Items and even a Children’s Section with many items. The Boutique was well stocked with items for
sale and was busy most of the day. I also noticed that Second Hand Rose was
doing a brisk business. There was a lot of other action at the Silent Auction
and beautiful raffle quilt booth. Several other booths were also drawing the
interest of the crowd. Down the center Isle there were demonstrations showing
quilt basting and other quilting techniques. There were a number of vendors
present, selling everything from buttons, thread, fabric, long arm quilting
machines and every thing in between. The attendance Saturday was about 1,400
and there was also a good crowd on Sunday.
1st Prize
Queen Size Quilt was won by Amy Evers, 2nd Prize Wall Hanging was
won by Mary Carlman and 3rd Prize Minature by Mary Gilson.
Barbara Prickett won the $500
raffle Basket and Pam Manley won the Fat Quarter Basket.
I wish to thank Quilt
Show Chairperson Annette Sweet, and all of the ladies that made this such a
great show.
