News on upcoming programs. Program classes are normally $45 for members. You do have to be a member to participate. Membership is open to all for $30 annually.
There may be additional expenses based on the needs of the individual classes, e.g. some classes require purchase of kits, patterns, books, etc.
Not all program speakers will have a class. Class location will be provided at least 2 weeks ahead of the class. An email reminder will be sent 2 weeks prior to a class. Please send email to programs@rgvqg.com if you need to cancel a class.

Participants will love learning the Corner Pop III tool by Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Design. Participants will be amazed by the oversized and trimming down technique of the Studio 180 Design Tucker Tools. The precision the quilter accomplishes with these tools will illustrate the perfection they are able to obtain using the Studio 180 Design Tucker Tools. Although this may look hard, you will soon be making stunning units with ease. In addition, participants will learn how to transform basic units and orphan blocks using the Corner Pop III, making your quilt design truly spectacular.

Quilted Jacket Workshop
This months program class will be taught by Patty Roebuck. Patty will teach us how to make a quilt jacket. Here is Patty’s inspiration in her own words. I find vintage and modern quilts and quilt tops in my travels, and I work to preserve the artistry that was previously started by revitalizing the quilt, finishing the tops by lovingly quilting them and refashioning them into warm, cozy jackets, hats, and bags.
About Patty
I am an avid sewist who loves to quilt, make bags, and wearable art with a penchant for upcycling and reusing. I like to keep busy, so I sew (a lot), piece, longarm quilt, and design. An Independent Maker, I work and design in a chaotic creative space I call my home studio.
I love vintage and modern textiles, especially vintage quilts, and upcycle them into one-of-a-kind, wearable art. I became very prolific with finding, designing, and making jackets and bags. So much so that my friends and family started
buying them. Long story short, Lola and Viv Designs was born. I started doing “Pop Up” shows at local craft fairs, and the constant question, “Do you have a website?” has finally been answered.
I served 30 years in the Navy and have always used crafting to fill my free time. After retiring from the military, I suffered a traumatic brain injury and wanted to do something that would challenge my brain as part of my recovery plan. Though I had sewn my whole life, I had never quilted (too hard). I knew that quilting and piecing a quilt required math and design, pushing me to stop and think about what I was doing. I knew this would force me to exercise my brain. This, coupled with my love of all fabrics and textiles, led me to dabble in making basic tote bags and quilts. I was hooked!
I have turned my passion into a creative business. The fusion of vintage and modern textiles and my commitment to upcycling add a unique touch to my creations, making them not just products but carriers of history and emotion. I am dedicated to preserving and repurposing old quilt tops, quilts, and textiles in every aspect of my work. I am increasingly inspired by ways to use different fabrics, upcycling, and searching high and low in antique and secondhand shops for old quilt tops, quilts, and textiles. I believe that every quilt has a story, and I am just narrating that tale.
